Our Philosophy

We believe that play makes our community a better place.

As the researcher Dr Stewart Brown says,
“The opposite of play is not work, the opposite of play is depression.”
Play is vital for learning, stress relief, recovering from trauma, connecting families & communities, and more!

At Hornby Island Play, our heart is to see diverse learners of all ages be able to access opportunities and fun materials.
Our goal in providing coaching and resources is that everyone is included, no matter their abilities.
Pay What You Wish pricing allows anyone to be able to play, regardless of their finances.

Suggested pricing works like a sliding scale, the minimum helps provide the basic needs for our family. The full amount allows us to build our business, and invest in more resources for our community.

"Pay It Forward" provides course scholarships, toys to our community kids and allows us to invest in more resources to share with you!

For any of our offerings, if someone is unable to pay the base amount, we offer scholarships. "Pay It forward" helps make it so that anyone who wants coaching services isn't hindered by the cost. Consider sending an ongoing donation weekly or monthly.

In the heart of equality, we keep everyone anonymous, but we do notice those who give generous and we send much gratitude and good karma your way!!

How much should I give?

Any amount is valued. And if you are looking for a starting place, think about these guidelines:

The other amount may include a "pay it forward "

Have fun with your gratuity. When you give a random amount (my favourite number is 3, 13, and 33 - what's yours?) I'll know that while you may not have the financial resources to give more, but are giving what you are able 💖

After our complimentary session, ongoing coaching sessions can be paid by e- transfer or click here

Suggested Prices for Coaching:

Mini Session (30 min) perfect for addressing an issue quickly, or a 'check in' - $33.

Full (60-90min) during a session, we might address several issues, or deep dive into a big one. Session lengths vary based on the need. - $90.

✨Weekly (full session 4x a month) this is an ideal package to truly support you in your journey. The price reflects your commitment to our time together - $333✨.
